Thienny Lee Art Therapy

Benefits of Art Therapy

Evidence-based research has shown that painting and drawing can help to reduce anxiety, ease agitation, and spark positive energy, while also providing a sense of purpose and social connection. It can improve quality of life by offering a calming, non-verbal way to express thoughts and emotions that may be difficult to articulate verbally, particularly for those living with dementia or neurodivergence.

Individual & Community Program

Thienny’s work in art therapy draws upon her experience and expertise in visual arts as well as her own artmaking practice. This involves imaginative approaches to painting, a passionate use of colour, and a focus on exploring the unity of nature through the use of natural or recycled materials in multidisciplinary art-making.

Working with the Ku-ring-gai Council and as a keen volunteer in aged care for their art therapy sessions, Thienny has facilitated a community program where participants produce artwork in a studio environment. Her art therapy sessions are dedicated to sharing the enriching benefits of artmaking with the community.
